Schedules Missed or Failed
For a schedule to send a command to a room's blinds, all the Smart Controllers in your account must be online and have Internet access at the scheduled time.
If your schedule did not run as expected, here are the most common reasons and troubleshooting steps. Following the topics in the same order as presented below helps minimize commands-related issues with your blinds and Smart Controller.
Blind external antenna is visible/exposed
Most motorized blinds have an external antenna, a few inches of wire extending from the motor head. If your blinds have one:
- Ensure the antenna is straight and exposed, not tucked inside the headrail.
- Make sure it is not touching metal surfaces or the wall, as this can reduce signal reception.
Blind misses commands from a handheld remote control
Some motorized blinds occasionally miss commands when using their handheld remote control. This may be less noticeable since you can easily press again until the blind moves. If this happens with your blind, expect the same behaviour with commands sent by the Smart Controller, including scheduled ones.
How to create schedules when blinds sometimes miss commands?
Create a second schedule with the same settings as the first, but one minute after. This increases the chances that the blind receives and interprets the command correctly.
Smart Controller may be out of range
If the same blinds or rooms respond inconsistently, or not at all, to commands and schedules:
- They may be at the edge of, or outside, the Smart Controller’s coverage.
-
Walls, distance, and home layout can weaken the signal between the Smart Controller and the motors.
