Smart Controller C-BR300 Model: Issues During "Add Smart Controller"
Requirements
- The Smart Controller only supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n), not 5 GHz.
- Wi-Fi security must be set to WPA2-Personal or WPA3-Personal.
- Ensure a strong Wi-Fi signal (at least 3 bars) in the location where you will set up your Smart Controller.
- The Smart Controller must be connected to its original power adapter. Avoid plugging it into a computer or a router’s auxiliary USB port.
Important Note
The Smart Controller C-BR300 may experience issues during initial setup or when connecting to the internet with some newer Wi-Fi routers and modems. We are actively working to improve compatibility with these devices. In most cases, these issues have already been resolved in the latest firmware. However, if your Smart Controller still has an older factory firmware version, you may need to first go through Add Smart Controller and set the Wi-Fi to the personal hotspot created on your phone. After successfully adding it to your account, keep it online for about 10 minutes to allow the firmware to update automatically. Once the update is complete, you can disable the hotspot and re-add the Smart Controller to your account without deleting it from the app. Follow through all the steps until the end, but this time select your home Wi-Fi and enter its password.
Step 3: “Test Bluetooth” or “Test Location” fail
Symptoms:
- App shows “Failed turning on Bluetooth”.
- Not allowed to proceed further than step 3.
This issue is usually caused by missing or expired permissions for Bluetooth and/or Location. These permissions are required for the app to connect to the Smart Controller over Bluetooth during the process of adding it to your home Wi-Fi.
Check your phone’s settings to verify whether any permissions were denied for the Neo Smart Blinds app. The exact location of these settings depends on your phone’s operating system, but it is generally in Setting, either under the Neo Smart Blinds app permissions or Bluetooth permissions.
If you are unsure how to grant the required permissions manually, the easiest solution is to uninstall and reinstall the app. When reinstalling, make sure to grant all permissions requested by the app when prompted.
Step 4: No Bluetooth devices available
Symptoms:
- App shows “No Bluetooth devices available”
- Message: “Connection failed” when connecting to the Smart Controller.
- The Smart Controller LED is not blue, or it's blue but not blinking.
- Tried “Re-Scan” or “Retry to reconnect” buttons with no success.
This issue may be caused by a stuck Bluetooth connection between the Smart Controller and the phone, or by an internal error preventing the connection from completing.
- Press the R button once on the back of the Smart Controller.
- Close the Neo Smart Blinds app completely. Make sure to fully close the app, not just lock the phone, as this only sends the app to the background while it continues running.
- Reopen the app and start the Add Smart Controller process again, following the in-app instructions until setup is complete.
Step 5: Adding a Smart Controller fails
Symptoms:
- I can't pass step 5 when adding the Smart Controller to my account.
- The Smart Controller LED blinks white at step 5, although the Wi-Fi password is correct. It's important to follow the steps in the same order as below:
- Power off the Wi-Fi router and its extenders.
- Wait 10 seconds and power on the Wi-Fi router. Wait 1-2 minutes until the router starts and has internet access.
- Using the Neo Smart Blinds app, start the Add Smart Controller process again. Follow the instructions until step 5.
- In step 5, do not tap on the "Next" button. Wait an extra 20 seconds and observe the Smart Controller LED.
- If it is in a loop, showing the states blinking green, long white, short yellow:
- Power cycle the Wi-Fi router again.
- Wait 1-2 minutes until the router comes back online.
- If it is pulsing green/blue:
- Tap on the Next button to finish the process.
- Power on the Wi-Fi extenders. You can now proceed with adding blinds and creating schedules.
