Moved into a home with a Smart Controller?

Info
If your new home includes a Smart Controller but no instructions or setup code, this guide will help you understand what it does and how to configure it from scratch so you can quickly start using schedules, automations, and integrations.

Overview

This guide walks you through:
  1. Creating your account and selecting the appropriate setup code.
  2. Connecting each Smart Controller to your Wi‑Fi.
  3. Adding blinds manually or requesting technical support to add them for you.
  4. Getting started with automations and integrations.

What the Smart Controller and app do

The Smart Controller is a Wi‑Fi hub that connects to the Neo Smart Blinds app, allowing you to pair, control, and automate your motorized blinds. It supports multiple blind brands and integrates with major home automation systems and voice assistants.

Locate all Smart Controllers and ensure they are powered on

Most homes require only one Smart Controller, but larger or multi-level homes may have more. Locate each unit and confirm it is powered on. A lit LED on the back of the controller indicates it is receiving power (colour is not important).

Download the app and create an account

Download the Neo Smart Blinds app (not “Neo Smart Blinds Blue”) on your mobile device. Create a new account and verify your email address is entered correctly. During the final setup step, enter the setup code provided by the previous homeowner. If no code is available, select SBH20.

Add all Smart Controllers to your account

After logging in, go to Menu > Smart Controllers > Add Smart Controller and follow the in-app instructions. You will need your Wi‑Fi network name and password during setup. Repeat this process for each Smart Controller.

If a firmware update screen appears, you may close it and monitor progress under Menu > Smart Controllers. Once all Smart Controllers are online and updated, continue to the next step.

Add blinds to your account

You can add blinds in two ways:

  1. Add them manually by yourself
  2. Request our technical support to add them for you

Adding blinds manually

Go to Menu > Add Blind and follow the instructions in the app. During the “Match Remote Control” step, select the remote that matches your blind’s handheld remote control. Use filters such as “Model AC,” “Has P2 Button,” and “Has C L Buttons” to narrow the list. These features can usually be found on the back of the remote, sometimes inside the battery compartment.

If you cannot find a matching remote control, contact tech@neosmartblinds.com and include clear photos of the front and back of the remote.

Good to know
  1. Use simple, natural names for blinds and rooms, especially if you plan to use voice control.
  2. Rooms are created during the Add Blind process and can reflect your home layout or grouping preferences (for example, by AM and PM sun exposure).
  3. A single blind can be paired to multiple rooms by following the same Add Blind process and choosing the desired room each time.

Requesting technical support to add blinds

If the previous owner did not delete their account, technical support can replicate the existing configuration into your account. This is helpful for homes with many blinds and typically takes up to 3 business days.

To request it:
  1. Email tech@neosmartblinds.com and provide the email address of your Neo Smart Blinds account
  2. Include the serial numbers of all Smart Controllers already added to your account.

Schedules, scenes, and integrations

Schedules automate blinds based on time of day or relative to sunrise and sunset, with optional offsets, choosing one command per schedule.

Scenes allow you to control multiple blinds or rooms at once, either manually or through integrations such as Alexa, Siri Shortcuts, or IFTTT.
