Weather-based automation with IFTTT
To get started, create scenes in the Neo Smart Blinds app with the rooms and blinds you want, then visit the
Neo Smart Blinds IFTTT service page, connect your account, and link your scene to the weather trigger you prefer. If you need help, our technical support team can assist with scene creation and IFTTT setup.
Scenes are flexible: you choose rooms or individual blinds and assign a command to each one. This lets you create custom groupings tailored to your home’s layout and gives you precise control over how your automations behave.
Useful automation scenarios
- Open blinds on cloudy or rainy days in rooms where you want more natural light, so interiors stay bright without direct sun.
- Close blinds on sunny, warm days when the forecast shows strong sun and temperatures above what’s comfortable for you, improving indoor temperature control and protecting furniture, art, electronics, and plants from harsh sunlight.
- Protect awnings from wind by retracting them when conditions become too strong.
Setup examples
Hot day / too much direct sun
For more control,
create two scenes:
- One for east-facing blinds to
control morning sunlight.
- One for west-facing blinds to
control afternoon sunlight.
Then, in IFTTT,
choose a weather trigger like “temperature rises above” and/or a forecast condition such as “sunny,” then set the action to activate your Neo Smart Blinds scene that closes the blinds. You can also browse weather-based applets already connected to Neo Smart Blinds and adapt one to your needs here:

Strong wind for awnings
Use a wind-speed trigger from a weather service, then connect it to a scene that retracts the awning or closes exterior shades. IFTTT community applets already include weather-driven shade and awning ideas you can use as a starting point; visit the link below to see them.
