Naming Best Practices for Alexa
Naming Best Practices for Alexa
Proper naming of your rooms and scenes in the Neo Smart Blinds app is essential for reliable voice control using Alexa.
⚠️ Avoid naming conflicts: Alexa may not function correctly if your Neo Smart Blinds room or scene names are the same as existing Alexa devices or groups.
Do:
- Use simple and distinct names like Living Room Shades, Bedroom Blinds, or Morning Scene.
- Stick to common room names or clearly descriptive terms.
- Rename any duplicates if Alexa shows "device not responding" or doesn't trigger scenes.
Don’t:
- Avoid names like Light, Window, or Fan—these may conflict with other smart home categories in Alexa.
- Don’t use the same name for multiple scenes or rooms.
- Avoid special characters or punctuation.
Need to rename?
- Open the Neo Smart Blinds app and edit your room or scene names.
- Then go to the Alexa app, delete any outdated devices, and rediscover.
